Survive against waves of zombies! Progress to discover new weapons! Spend points to place traps and hold out as long as you can!
Hold B: Reload
Double tap B: place traps
Right/left: hold to switch weapons/traps
Added bullet shell effect
Added terrain; mud slows zombies, burial ground spawns more, grass no effect
Other minor tweaks
Added grenades and flamethrower
Waves with increasing difficulty
Blood effect on hits
Backpack zombies (drop ammo)
Graphical changes, not sure if improvement lol
Multiple colors for zombies
Game over is recognized by the game, not very flashy yet though. Just says game over and let's the game continue.
Minor bug exists where shotgun might fire multiple times, still figuring out why.
Fixed the shotgun bug
Fixed bug that would sometimes skip waves
Added minimum :D but it's just the smg with a different Sprite right now :(
Changed Sprite for smg
Added kill count
Started testing traps. Double press B to place a fan that slows down zombies.. kinda silly, but I couldn't think of anything else that would slow them down.
Added points counter
Added fan, speaker, and land mine traps
Fan: slows zombies
Speaker: attracts zombies
Land mine: explodes on contact with zombie
Double tap B to enter trap placing mode
Currently all traps cost 150 points and last 30 seconds before disappearing.
Hold B to reload now
Hold to change weapons now
Changed colors so the zombies don't make a rainbow lol
Every weapon has its own Sprite and animation
Weapons are unlocked as you progress, only get ammo for certain weapons each wave
Terrain randomizes each wave
Added a proper game over screen
Land mines stay for 5 minutes instead of 30 seconds
Some balancing tweaks and bug fixes
Sounds and music!
Some balancing and bug fixes
..I think I can call this game complete now.. and ideas or criticism are still welcome

@Jonnywhateva, GREAT WORK!! 😃👍 This is functioning much better than the previous effort already! I love the different weapons idea, and 'reload' concept! You're on the right track with this now! 😊👌
Jonnywhateva 2020-02-12 23:42
Thanks! And as a fun little example I basically maxed out the zombie spawning just to show how many can be on the screen. Also, I think I want to add grenades, and traps that you can set, maybe some tower defense style mechanics, if anyone else has a cool idea let me know
Roger Davis 2020-02-13 00:29 (Edited)
@Jonnywhateva, thanks for the "max-out" example - (I think! . . 🤔😳 ) Lol 😂 I'm happy just to let you run with this, you're doing great! 😀👌 I love the mechanics of the game to date, and the ideas you have for traps & grenades! Keep going! It's marvellous so far! : )
ContraryWarrior 2020-02-13 01:39
I was working on something similar but you beat me to the punch! Great job
Roger Davis 2020-02-13 04:08 (Edited)
@ContraryWarrior, you can STILL release YOUR game! We'd love to see it! There are plenty of different versions of the same style of game on here! Your code may be of use to someone else as well. Please feel free to share your game if you would like to. 😃👍
TrashCan Games 2020-02-13 12:58
This is really good and fun. I think you should add a level system and game over system. Such as very certain amount of time the amount of zombies go up and maybe zombie health go up and with different guns doing different damages or something like that.
ContraryWarrior 2020-02-13 16:27
Maybe I will soon!! I haven’t actually written any codes just editing the ones on there so far. I have no idea what I’m doing but trying to learn!!
Roger Davis 2020-02-13 21:06
@ContraryWarrior, No problem! I'm a complete beginner myself, so I know what you're saying. There are plenty of programs on here which have code you can check out, plus the help built into the App itself of course! Have you also checked out the Forum area? It's packed with essential code, ideas & discussion on a variety of subjects - PLUS, you can ask any questions there about topics you need help with! My advice, for what it's worth, is to take a look at ANYTHING & EVERYTHING written by either Timo (the creator of Lowres NX) or Was8bit, who is also extremely knowledgeable about all things NX. But everyone on here is very capable of offering great advice! 😃👍
ContraryWarrior 2020-02-13 21:57 (Edited)
Thank you for the warm welcome!! I’m gonna try to completely dissect some of Timo’s code to try and figure it out! It is a little daunting but it is the most joy I have ever had trying to learn something!
Jonnywhateva 2020-02-13 22:15
Trash can games, I like those ideas and will definitely plan on implementing them! Thank you! And contrarywarrior, welcome to the community! You couldn't have picked a better skill to learn and hobby to follow! Programming is such a challenging and rewarding pass time! Good luck on your journey!
ContraryWarrior 2020-02-13 22:50
Thank you @Johnnywhateva it is proving to be quite challenging to find any resources on the subject!! most sources just work as gatekeepers to the said knowledge with an admittance fee.. That is one of the reasons I LOVE this app and website!
It provides a wonderful community and a lot of resources to try to get started!!

The bullet effects look very cool!
Roger Davis 2020-02-15 09:00
Now . . . See this, . . THIS! . . IS WHAT I'M TALKIN' 'BOUT!!! YEE-HAA! Die you Zombie scum! Flamethrower? 🤔 Check! . . Grenades? 🤔 Check! . . Aaannd . . Away we go! Hahahaha!!! Wonderful effects, OODLES of playability (already!), and as addictive as something your mum wouldn't like you taking! Great job, @Jonnywhateva 😃👍
Jonnywhateva 2020-02-15 10:19
Thank you, there's still no fail state, and the difficulty ramps up pretty steeply, and I'm still using place holder graphics, but I'm pretty pleased with how this is coming out so far
Roger Davis 2020-02-15 21:01
@Jonnywhateva, I know that there are still things to be fixed, but this is an AMAZING game already. You SHOULD be pleased! It's fantastic so far! Keep going with it! 😊😊😊😊😊

Just a little idea i had
A mini gun that is very op at round 1 but gets weaker over time until it becomes useless
Jonnywhateva 2020-02-17 19:01
That's a neat idea, I'll try that out trash can gsmes
ContraryWarrior 2020-02-17 23:00
This game is turning out wonderfully!!
Jonnywhateva 2020-02-18 04:33
Thank you! I like this kind of development style where I take input from the community as I make the game. It seems to be working quite well! Keep the suggestions coming! All input is appreciated!
ContraryWarrior 2020-02-18 05:19
I love how the shells fall when you shoot! Wonderful animation and effect!! Would be cool to have a count on how many enemies slain and also benefits for hiring milestones. I also really like how you have the item drop!! You are already doing things I wouldn’t have thought of!! Keep up the excellent works
Jonnywhateva 2020-02-19 22:39
I'm hitting some creative block. I'm planning on making unique sprites for each weapon and changing the palettes so everything isn't rainbow colors, and some balancing of course..but aside from that I'm not really sure what else to do with this game. I like the milestones idea contrarywarrior had, but I'm not sure what exactly to would work well for that... Any thoughts?
ContraryWarrior 2020-02-20 04:20
even if the milestones only came with a graphic like the style counter in Devil May Cry!! ill put some further thought into it but it is pretty close to a full game as it is!! also maybe you could make it to where you start with a single weapon and then when you reach milestones upgrade your gear! either way this is shaping up to be a great modern arcade game!!
Jonnywhateva 2020-02-25 01:42
I think I have this game in a state where I could put in music and sounds and call it complete. I'll let you all play test it a bit and let me know if it's too hard/too easy and what changes you all might recommend. In the mean time I'll take my best try at audio and I'll keep listening for your input! Thank you all for helping this project become what it is now!
Timo 2020-02-25 06:59 (Edited)
I would appreciate sound and music a lot, and I agree that not much more is necessary. It’s already a small very well made game. Putting more effort into it could become more work than fun for you, that’s not the point of LowRes NX :)
was8bit 2020-03-07 07:18
Most excellent :)
