Gold-Rush Rails game

Yehaw! There's GOLD in them thar hills!!

Starting out as a pan-handler, work your way up to a rich Rail-Baron!

- Connect your Red Train Station to mountains with gold with railroad tracks.
- TAP tracks to flip them around.
- TAP the Red Station to send your train out to get the gold!
- When you are ready to look for more gold, tap the BIG BELL to go to new land.

IF YOU CRASH YOUR TRAIN, it is all over... you only have one train!

At game end, your high score is shown in the game logo box... :)

It COSTS extra $$$ to build over them ;)

Notice the top line, the right most is your money (can go negative)

Then left of you will see +00-00=00.. for this turn, this is +$gold found-$spent=experience points

See the 00/00.... this is earned ex.p/needed ex.p... this,determines when you "level up" to the next level (you start as a gold panner or pan handler)

At the end of each turn then, any experience points are added to the left, and once you meet or exceed the needed amount you upgrade to the next level, which will offer more gold but will be harder...

Also, you can not build track on: train shed, mountains, lakes, existing track

Also note that you must line up the track at the points shown on the shed and mountain

Being able to turn track will be needed when you have several mountains, since you can not build different track over top existing track, so careful planning is needed to get all the gold...

As each gold dot = 10 gold, on the picture for v0.51 player will, at turn end, lose $3 and won't earn any experience points.... BUT they will get to play another turn... had they built differently, they could have spent only $9 (there was a water hazard they built thru) and could have ended their turn +$1 profit and 1 exp. point closer to leveling up...

... ok, since redesigning the graphics, this inspired changes in the game... now there are 3 hazzards..

Image for v0.61 shows spent $15 but can make $20..
In finished game...
1) tap red T to start train and collect $10 from left mountain
2) tap the connecting angle track to direct train right
3) tap red T to start train again and collect $10 from right mountain

0.72 will let you play multiple maps :)

.. just select the BIG BELL on your tool build menu, and that signals you are moving out to look for a new site to explore :)

0.73 = added -#'s to hazzards...

also leaving gold on the map when you leave is bad: you cannot earn any skill points, and should you also lose money you will actually lose 1 skill point

Well, currently there is lots of empty space....

My idea at higher levels is more stuff.. so at level 4 you will have: 5 mountains, 4 rivers, 4 lakes, 4 swamps, and one station... thats almost 20 things... odds are it will get messy just that...

Also remember the rails MUST connect to the correct sides... currently no check is made on the mountains, but my next version will add that check in... this limits the possibilities....

also, mountains act as blocks... some mountains are empty, at level 4 it will be possible to have 4 empty mountains, all acting as blocks....

LEVEL 1 is now an easy level, designed to teach how to play the game intuitively...

LEVEL 2-4 are tweaked for incremental challenges without spending lots of time without progress...

Basically the statement is preventing your train depot (facing down) and any mountain from being randomly placed at the bottom, which would render any of these as out of play as track is required to be placed below these and would be impossible if these were placed at the very bottom ...

If you read the code, the WHILE,WEND continues looking for an avaiable spot, which is only char#2, so if for any other reason i dont want something placed at the chosen spot, setting CC=99 forces it to look for a new random spot...

Lets say some one got 400 points some one who had better luck with the randomization could beat that score even with a worse strategy or have you found out a way to prevent this or reduce the chances of this happenin

Hey, great job :)

The game only focuses on creating a playable board... on level 1 it is super easy and quick as a way to teach new players how to play...

There are strategies... for example, you can quit a bad board to avoid losing money, it reduces your skill points but you also get to play more boards...

Like solitair or yatzee, its all mostly random chance with a bit of skill and risk thrown in... ;)
