Simple answers...
1) Apple Store doesn't allow apps sharing code, etc, within the app, so they removed lowres1 from the store
2) lowres2 is fundamentally completely different than lowres1.. #1 is pixel based, #2 is character based... i could compare other differences but basically #2 is a fresh rewrite completely different
3) preserving #1 for existing users allows existing users to keep their old programs, which would have been lost with apple stores new rules, it is just no longer available to anyone who didnt get it while it was in the store....
