Leave off putting the character number at the end of the CELL command, and it only changes the color, not the character, assuming you've applied the color with ATTR first :)

Also, leave the other attribute settings blank, leave in the commas, and only the pallete number part of the attribute settings will be changed :)

You CAN double the colors for any one "square" on the screen, in that there are 2 backgrounds... you can stack one character on the top layer with "holes" that allow colors from a below characters colors to show thru... same could be done with sprites, but the bottom Sprite needs to be a bigger Sprite number than the upper one to stack properly..
I'll post a demo of this idea of double color :)
