Perhaps because someone visiting for the first time will not be registered yet, and it would be best to show a visitor JUST GAMES, and not non-game stuff...
... in fact, they automatically start out on the FEATURED tab, which will give them a nice variety of games...
Notice that the first page randomly shows 3 featured games.... prolly for the same reason :)
