I would choose only one line, the main melody line.. decide what smallest note to use.. i like 1/8 notes, so 1/16 notes get fudged into 1/8 notes...
So if 1/8 notes are your smallest note, the each entry in lowres is 1/8 ... so for example, a 1/4 note needs one space after it for proper timing... a 1/2 note needs 3 spaces after it for proper timing ... a whole note will need 7 spaces after it (1+7=8) as there are 8 beats per whole note...
