This is just a test...

one could use "smart map" construction to yield a nice looking big map layout..

Then use fancy scrolling and such to create smoother movement ...

One could additionally use points on the big map to goto other spaces... ie. When a player makes ocntact with a building, the coordinates for that building could be used by code to move player into a scene showing player inside a specific building... leaving the building would return player back to the big map...

If you open this up, and look at the character editor, you will notice that page 2 is the TERRAIN map.... you then copy this to page 3 and then add the walls buildings, and roads, onto page 3... this is the ITEMS map

When the TERRAIN map is placed in BG0 and ITEMS map is placed on BG1, the TERRAIN map, with its own 3 colors, will mask the copied terrain below, leaving the terrain on the copied page 3 makes it easier to add the ITEMS with their own 3 colors..

The end result is a big map with 7 colors... ;)
