Stack-A-Doo

6

was8bit 2022-08-14 13:58 (Edited)

A storm has hit a sea port and scrambled up all the shipping crates...

Use your crane to reassemble the crates in order, #0 to #99

It may take a few days to fix this mess, so your progress is automatically saved.

When you get them all sorted out, you will get a little party ;)

ARROWS move crane, (A) closes/grabs (B) lets go

"It may take a few days"

My time is 45:16 and that's with fooling around with the crane.

was8bit 2022-08-15 02:55

Wowzers! That is dedication! Myself i like quick little games to fill small gaps of time... by saving the game i can break the game down over a few days..

Thanks so much for playing the game, and the feedback :D

SP4CEBAR 2022-08-15 13:36

I am the sorting algorithm :D

SP4CEBAR 2022-08-15 13:56

Nooooo, 15 munutes in and I forgot to press "Save to my programs", so I pressed it to guarantee a save, but no, that quits it and discards the progress, I wanted to save it to tell you about box character 26 or somewhere near it that has a few pixels that stick out

SP4CEBAR 2022-08-15 14:22

54 has some extra pixels too

SP4CEBAR 2022-08-15 14:24

I've been staring at your lime-green ish screen for 25 more minutes, the blue "submit" and "attach" buttons look desaturated to my eyes now

SP4CEBAR 2022-08-15 14:38 (Edited)

Completed in 40:23

SP4CEBAR 2022-08-15 15:10

75 has an extra pixel too

SP4CEBAR 2022-08-15 15:30

I got 35:37 using a better sorting algorithm (with my brain)

This got me thinking: you could turn this into a really fun coding challenge:
You could make an API of subprograms to control the crane, and to sample container numbers (for example: sample 1 cell below the crane, or at specific coordinates)

Maybe some additional limitations would be fun
And a timer to be able to compare how well it did to other algorithms

was8bit 2022-08-15 19:11

Thanks for the pixel feedback, update fixed 'em

The re-editing of the number squares took more time than anything else... i think collectively i spent less than 30 minutes on the actual code...

You are welcome, and encouraged, to take this and remix it anyway you want to :D this was more just a fun challenge to make what i envisioned... i wont spill the beans on what i "may" use this for in the future, esp. since i may never get around to it...

but as is, it is just a raw concept that works, so feel free to tinker, repurpose, etc, whatever you envision ;)

SP4CEBAR 2022-08-15 20:54

Cool, good luck

Maybe you should've made a program to do the writing, I'm guilty of that too, I wrote 256 binary patterns by hand, those are really easy to generate in a program, but I didn't want to do character encoding

SP4CEBAR 2022-08-15 21:06

54 also has an extra pixel

SP4CEBAR 2022-08-16 13:11

And 52 has one too

was8bit 2022-08-16 13:41

Thanky kindly :) my tired eyes missed those :)

was8bit 2022-08-16 19:15 (Edited)

BTW, to see the colors closer to as i see them, turn your night time setting to "ON" on your display... if you have that setting ... i always have my devices set on night time mode as i am usually in a darkish room or am outside at night when i use them...

SP4CEBAR 2022-08-16 20:06

Yeah, I have that mode, it's on right now
You're probably a big fan of dark-themed applications too

was8bit 2022-08-16 21:29

Yea.. ive used dark/night mode so much that normal mode annoys my eyes ;)

SP4CEBAR 2022-08-17 08:57

Same, the first thing I do when I download an application is search for the option to enable dark mode

was8bit 2022-08-17 14:12

:)
