My rules:
Count each and all 3-in-a-row as 1 point, even if they cross more than one board
ex. 4-in-a-row counts as two 3-in-a-rows
ex. 7-in-a-row counts as five 3-in-a-rows
If tie, then only count 3-in-a-rows that are inside a board
... there are 5 boards... four on the corners, and one in the middle... they overlap on the corners...
