I can totally relate, its a snapshot of my mind ;)
In fact, i couldnt get to sleep last night and spent 3 hours designing and making a 3 person chess game, with wrap-around edges... a physical one, not a program... then i went back to bed and fell asleep finally ... i could post a mockup of the layout....

Its missing the last 2 columns on the right... the one with the #20 and the one with the matching letters...
The dots are all pawns (you get double pawns) and the x's are your remaining 8 pieces which can be arranged as you please...
Pawns move up/down/left/right one square and capture all 4 diagonals one square... also pawns cannot be promoted, but i will be testing some ideas on how to promote pawns...
The wrap-around is this, so say you are on the top #5... technically you are also simultaneously on the bottom #5 at the same time..BOTH 5's are technically the exact same space, it's just being looked at from different sides or directions ;)
So, this lets you move backwards to attack the far persons rear, or whip around past the left to attack someone's right ;)
It plays really well for anyone familiar with chess... the only thing is its harder to get checkmate as you cannot corner any piece at end of game...

@was8bit Star Trek did the 3d chess… but you did the 3 PLAYER chess…. I can’t even find one person to play with me let alone two… lol… but I dig the idea… and hope you watched the broccoli and smiled too

Just tested my chess board game and it played wonderfully... we used pawn promotion in this way...
1) king or queen beside a pawn
2) can be promted to a piece that has been captured
3) this counts as your turn, you cannot move and promote on the same turn
... also, another rule is that you cannot threaten check across a wrap around... you must actually move first so that the check is on the board proper
You MAY use several warps (wrap arounds) in one move to just move, or to capture a piece thats not a king...
