With nearly 80hrs/week dedicated to work related stuff, simpler projects like this is about all i can manage... keeps me sane though ;)

'ARROW KEYS = MOVE CURSOR '(A) BUTTON + UP/DOWN SCROLL UP/DOWN ' + LEFT/RIGHT: DEC IMOVE '(B) BUTTON = INC IMOVE ' .......... IMOVE=0 READY ' IMOVE=1 FROM ' IMOVE=2 TO ' IMOVE=3 ATTEMPT MOVE

... YOU CAN NOW MOVE ONE CARD... MOVE AS IN SOLITAIRE

Found some more bugs and issues...

Pablo 2023-10-03 23:10

Love the interface, but i can't figure out how to play. Don't tell me, i'll get it eventually.

was8bit 2023-10-04 02:19

It isn’t really playable yet persay...

Look up SOLITAIRE CARD GAME to get some basic idea...

Pablo 2023-10-04 03:32 (Edited)

I know only the Klondike variant. I managed to move one card, but i think it was some kind of telekinesis.

Edit: Nevermind, i got it!

was8bit 2023-10-04 05:41 (Edited)

I am starting out copying exactly a variation i accidentally found... basically the biggest change from klondike is there are no piles at the top to draw off one at a time... rather cards are laid out right away like you see, alternating up or down...

In klondike, stacks of cards are rather automatically built in correct order as you turn over new cards, but in this version cards are randomly laid out at the beginning, and then you have to rearrange and can only move a stack of cards IF they are built klondike style...

With the layout randomly dealt up or down, you rarely will get cards in correct order, so you have to work really hard to get some cards in proper order...

I am a HUGE fan of solitaire games, ive played TONS of different kinds... THIS version never gets boring, has SO many different strategies you have to learn and use to be successful, AND it is rare that you cannot clear them all... but and however, it is common that you have to work REALLY hard and be clever is you want to win ;)

... this needs A LOT of work to play correctly... currently is does not...

Once i get it working correctly, i plan on adding variations you can choose from to keep it exciting :) diff # of cards in a set, different # of sets, diff# of decks, diff layouts, etc....

... but 1st, gotta get what i have working correctly....

was8bit 2023-10-04 05:51 (Edited)

To play a working version of what i am attempting to remake, goto apple app store, search MAGMA MOBILE, and then download their Solitaire Collection app.... then goto search by name, and play DOUBLE SOLITAIRE (advanced)

... this will help you with the rules... and you'll be able to help me test how well i can program all the rules correctly ;)

was8bit 2023-10-04 05:55 (Edited)

If you stay offline, the app lets you play the game without advertisement ;)

... a few tips...

do NOT play a lot of cards from the draw pile, except unless it helps you to get cards on the table to get sorted out, or that help you get to a card on the table you really need... draw cards are infinitely available, keep them their unless you really need them

.... go ahead and play cards to the top, but dont be afraid to play them back down below when you start to get stuck ... you may need to play down alot of cards until you can free up a card you need down below...

... do NOT be afraid to use the UNDO button, it lets you undo A LOT of moves... it is also useful to "peek" at different cards by moving different cards and putting them back to see which one will yield the best results..

... often you need to reshuffle around many cards to and from many different places to get key cards where they need to be..

...near the end of the game, it can be important to plan out a proper K-Q-J etc stack to eventualy lets you free up a stuck card... you have to carefully plan out the red/black correctly

Once all table cards are turned up and all stacks are in order, the game autoplays your cards for the win :)

was8bit 2023-10-04 06:07 (Edited)

BTW, i wont be offering a UNDO option on my game... sorry :(

... but maybe i can offer a "peek" feature for a card that "could" be played ;)

Pablo 2023-10-05 23:14 (Edited)

Sorry for the late reply, my energy is low. I like it a lot better than regular Klondike, i'll play more later and give feedback.

I always appreciate your stuff, you're very creative.

was8bit 2023-10-06 15:04

I understand, i only get a half day off from work every week :/

I greatly appreciate the compliment :D i think we have alot of creative people here :) my mind kind never shuts down, even when i sleep, so i get a constant supply of ideas all the time...

i have actually use things like my Yabai Akumu program to help distract and quiet my mind ... i can also calm my mind by giving myself lots of natural stimulus like a thunderstorm which has lots of movement and sound, calms me down nicely ;) a quiet sunny day with no wind (which most find calming) allows my mind to wonder, and i end up unable to stay still and get fidgety...

... anyway, i appreciate your help :) i have to rewrite my code to account for a stack moving section, and fix a few existing bugs... if i can get that done it "should" be properly playable.. you can test that version for me when i eventually get that far :)

I'm a rain lover too, rain makes me euphoric. I hate when it's used to represent sadness.

was8bit 2023-10-08 21:38

I understand the connection.... rain on your cheeks like tears... it’s comforting, like nature is crying with you...

Pablo 2023-10-09 19:49 (Edited)

It's often used to represent something you have to endure.

Quote from Internet:

On too many occasions it seems as if you’ve not only had to walk under the darkness of clouds, you also had to walk and sometimes crawl through the rain and storms of life.

Edit: removed links.

I get what you mean, i know you love the rain.

Thanks for sharing the links :)

... Also, perhaps, i am one who stays warm naturally, and i can often sit inside a walk-in refrigerated room and not feel cold.. so sunshine represents to me feeling hot or faint, or even heat sick... but if its cloudy or raining its a cool relief from the heat of the sun...

And also i have sound machines as well as sound apps to help relax or sleep, so the sound of rain or even thunderstorm helps me get to sleep...

A really cheap and easy way to get to sleep is to listen to the static on a radio, kinda sounds like a soft rain ;)

... but i do understand the thought of high waters associated with troubles in life... as i cannot swim or float (i sink like a rock) i absolutely avoid any water above my ankles, and have had many very terrifying encounters with water growing up... so i can relate with going thru high waters representing hard or scary times in life...

I'm sorry, i just noticed that i misunderstood you from the beginning. I truly appreciate you.

Thanks for sharing the love.

No worries... feelings are often complex things... often hard to explain in simple terms... and sometimes feelings can even go beyond words...

On the topic of the solitaire game, ive been rather swamped with work lately... but i would really like to work on this game as i can... i havent forgotten it ... :)

I play that game i mentioned alot... it has a high win ratio if you are patient and clever... ive played it over 100 times and it can become unwinable... my best guess is the unwinable happens perhaps about 1 out of 20 plays

There are situations where it feels unplayable, but i get it won by just working harder at rearranging cards until i find a breakthru towards a win.... this happens about 1 out of 5 plays...

Thank you for your kindness. I'm beta-testing the game.

was8bit 2023-10-12 02:36

Cool... I’ll try to get working on my version as I can :)

I predict you’ll need to play the game about 25 - 50 times to see all the different ways you can get stuck and then to figure out how to get unstuck for each one... ;)

You should be able to win a game in 5-10 min.... the simplest objective is to get all turned over cards turned up, and then get all cards on the table freed up (no lower # card above a higher card)

was8bit 2023-10-12 02:44 (Edited)

(Btw, about feelings... I’ve been trying to figure out a few feelings my whole life... I’ve resigned to the fact that it’s better to leave some things undefined, rather than forcing or giving a name to something.... if something is ambiguous you will be closer to the “truth” to leave it undefined... if you force an answer or name to it, you risk straying farther away from understanding...

For example, two people who shared a bad experience together may later get together once a year just to sit quietly together .... no words needed.. in fact, quietly sitting together says more than words ever could... no need to try to understand or explain... even some of our happiest moments exceed words)

Pablo 2023-10-13 00:15 (Edited)

It took me about 50 min to almost complete the game. It'll be fun finding strategies.

Thank you for sharing your heart. I found some peace in that.

I know nothing about music, but it came from heart: https://soundcloud.com/pablonicholson-ar/kalimba-improv-1-september

That recording is beautiful :) you know what would be great with it? A second track that just has the soft sounds of the pitter patter of a light rain :)

was8bit 2023-10-13 03:16

Let me share this with you... i own the dvd, its best to watch it with full attention and no interruptions... "rhapsody in august" ... you may have to watch it a few times, there is a lot in it that isnt explained with words... you need to watch it with a quiet spirit ...

was8bit 2023-10-13 03:18

Just now caught the glitch... TY :)

was8bit 2023-10-14 18:04 (Edited)

So, i was thinking... ive learned simpler is better.. so with the low interest in this format, i am going to test a new simpler format with a mario theme, mario images seem to get a good response... be in the lookout for my mario test post.. if it gets a better response i'll go forward with that version...

... it will play the same, but i will probably reduce the #'s to 1-8, with less cards it should be easier to play...

I have some ideas for the feather and coin... but i will probably just stick to "simple"

... i will try to make the code simpler, current code gets abit bloated... also the bigger cards will be touch controlled and the game will be small enough to fit on the visible screen

Pablo 2023-10-15 08:15 (Edited)

I just watched the movie yesterday, i see in it a message of humility. I thank you for that.

I think the more we know each other, the less words are needed.

Looking forward to the Mario solitaire. I wish you peace of heart and mind.

was8bit 2023-10-15 10:53
