I think it could be done more efficiently if the URLs of the programs are first categorized, and then a macro (with software like AutoHotKey) can be used to open each URL and run a sequence of tabs and enters to apply a preset of categories and tags to each one of them.
or even better would be a program to generate the correct web requests to apply such presets to each of the URLs.
Let me know if you have more ideas

I’m thinking about a script (for all programs of everybody) to assign some technical tags like which input is used etc. But finding the right genre for a program won’t work automatically of course.
Anyway, no need to tag every single program. The highlights are enough :)

Maybe a script can be used to detect certain keywords in the titles (and perhaps also the descriptions) of programs, like:
- For games: "game", "puzzle", "adventure", "engine"
- For demos: "demo", "screensaver"
- For examples: "library", "API", "test", "example"
- For tools: "tool", "utility"
- For assets: "asset", "font"
If the name of a category or tag is used within the name or description of a program then it usually belongs to that tag

While the tags are useful, I don’t think it’s necessary to tag every previous program (especially if it’s no longer being updated). I’ll definitely be doing it for all future programs, but in most cases the search by name seems to be sufficient.

Actually I mainly implemented tags for the old programs (new ones of course too). We have so many programs posted from the last years, that there is no nice way for (new) visitors to see what exists for a specific genre or type. I think it’s very cool to be able to quickly see all multiplayer games, all pixel-buffer examples etc. :)

But it’s true that unfinished projects don’t necessarily need tags. As I wrote before, it would be cool already to have tags for the highlights.

That said, I just went through and tried tagging all my programs the best I could.
I apologize in advance for any mistakes.

I did too, and I probably have made some mistakes as well

Ah, I will work on adding tags…. I can’t always find my own stuff ;)
