I’ve been teaching myself coding for several years now. That’s how I discovered fantasy consoles, which have been a huge help in my studying. Of course, I’ve always wanted to make my own platformer. I tried building one in Pico-8 and TIC-80, but in the end, my first finished platformer was made using Lowres NX.
It's a flip-screen platformer. A small hero collects coins. If he takes damage, he loses 5 coins. Also, some actions (double jump, using a powerball) cost one or two coins. If the hero loses all coins, the game is over. Otherwise, it's a standard platformer with classic mechanics.
I wanted more screens in my game, so I wrote a custom tool to store compressed data in the ROM. So the game contain 154 screens (+4 as backgrounds).
