Online multiplayer

Just a random idea: wouldn't it be cool if a multiplayer category would be added, where you can play multiplayer NX-games online

That would be EPIC!

You CAN make a multiplayer game already, but it is restricted to GAMEPAD 2 where 2 sets of controls appear on the screen and both players must be present to play the game on the same device...

As far as I know, online conectivity between 2 phones is not going to be possible with LowRes Nx....

I have thought about a game where people could make a play in a game that produced a code that could be posted online, and then I could plug in everyone’s move into the game on my end and post an updated version of the game that included everyone’s move...

But that would be extremely tedious for all, and probably be too much clutter on the posting boards to host such a game....

@was8bit, I mean, this site already runs NX programs, maybe it can host them for online multiplayer

That would involve a robust site, more cost to Timo... also lowres itself would need modified as well, and with the goal of compatability with multiple systems i am sure it would be a lot of work for Timo..

Perhaps the best chance for multiplayer might be a sever side program that allowed players access to it via the internet... probably turn based play rather than live, and at this point we wouldnt be talking about lowres because a server side program only runs on a server...

The idea is very cool, but creating an online multiplayer system is a lot of work. And as mentioned in https://lowresnx.inutilis.com/topic.php?id=1782 I'm currently not working on LowRes NX anymore.

I thought about making the second Gamepad with online support, so all two player games would already work, but it's really not a simple thing :(

I would be interested in making a turn based game multiplayer game powered by encrypted moves similar to this game...

https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/438/scotland-yard

Players would have to "sign up" with me to play, i would take the role of INTERNATIONAL JEWEL THIEF and players would be members INTERPOL ...

If enough people would be interested... turns would advance only when all players had submitted their encypted moves, so commitment to the game would be needed ..... it would probably take a month to complete one game ;)

That would be cool! I would play ;)

CubicleHead 2021-05-25 22:42

I actually have that physical game

I still have mine too ;)

Well... we need more that just one player... so if i get another person wanting to play, i will make it :)
