i haven't played that many RPGs in my life but i kinda want to try to make one. therefore i wonder what people find the most critical and needed in a good RPG. i mean, obviously the story / objective has to be good and well thought out. it has to be polished and not buggy. thats fundamental, but i'm looking for more detailed stuff or specific features or story parts from games and similar.

I like exploring and being able to find cool things also different environments are cool.

I vote for exploration, too :)
But also I never seriously played any RPG. I guess Zelda counts as action adventure…

I was thinking of Zelda too. I haven't played much of the newer ones just the original NES version.
